King Abdulaziz University Hospital is the largest academic medical center in the region with 1000 beds and has reached more than 1976 with a capacity of 200 Western ones. It started at the end of the year and it is located under the umbrella of the College of Medicine, but it is working effectively in early 2020 in cooperation with all health colleges to provide health care services. The status of the university hospital has been recognized by healthcare practitioners with high qualifications and exceptional, and therefore it is one of the distinguished quality hospitals in the region and includes flexible clinical services serving different categories of patients who enrich the clinical and academic experiences of the hospital as well as scientific research.
The journey began with strategic planning in 2006 and it is subject to updates and it is subject to regular and frequent updates in parallel with the strategic plan of King Abdulaziz University and more recently in parallel with the national vision. The university hospital has faced many crises during which it maintained its main role towards education and health care.
The University Hospital is committed to excellence in healthcare delivery and clinical practice. The workforce or employees are the main resource, who are able to grow. Professional competence and quality care are ensured through recruitment and retention of highly skilled staff and continuing education. Medical staff [consultants, specialists/colleagues and residents] and other healthcare providers (nurses, technologists, radiologist, pharmacy technician, psychologist, respiratory therapist, social workers, physiotherapists) are all qualified to practice, registered and approved by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties The medical staff exercises the privileges granted to them by the Hospital Privileges Committee. Staffing plans for patient care departments are evaluated to ensure that staff can provide specialized services within the scope of professional licensing and training for the appropriate level and scope of care required. Staffing plans for each department are determined annually to provide them.
